Client Case Studies

I measure success by our clients’ success. Take a look at what my clients have accomplished, here’s a selection of some of the success stories.

 Scott Pollard

Situation

Scott is a banking executive in his early 30’s his interests include, cycling, running, weight training, music, theatre, and socialising with friends.

Problem

Scott, an elite athlete and fitness fanatic was looking for a different challenge, whilst he was extremely fit he wanted a change up in his training, something that would both take him to peak fitness and give him a bit more muscle definition and size .  He decided to enter the Australian Men’s Fitness Magazine’s Fit Bloke Challenge 2012, so he required some specific training in the 3 months leading upto the event.

Solution

Scott came and had a chat to me in the gym in St.Leonards and decided that he wanted me to train him for the aforementioned event.  We did an assessment of Scott’s fitness including a postural analysis and overall measurements, to ascertain where he was at,  we then used these stats as a base to measure his progress.  I designed a 12 week periodisation macro cycle which included 3 x four week mesocycles with a number of phases addressing Scott’s dual goals of competing in the event and putting on some size.  Scott and I also mapped out an all important food plan to complement his needs.

Results

At about the half way mark of the 12 week program just as he was finishing one of the workouts, an emotional Scott looked at me and uttered “This is the fittest I’ve ever been” I couldn’t say anything at the time but upon reflection later in the day I thought to myself this is why I do personal training.  Scott went on to do well in the event as well as achieve his other goal of size and muscle definition.  Read Scott’s testimonial and this article for more information.

 David Taylor

Situation

David an executive in his early 30’s works for a Multinational consumers goods, sales and marketing company, just recently married. David’s interests are soccer, endurance sports such as cycling, and ski-ing.

Problem

David had noticed over the past few years that his girth was expanding, and his capacity to sustain periods of aerobic activity in his beloved sport soccer was on the decline.  In his own words (which you can refer to later in his testimonial) he was overweight for his height and he was feeling the effects on his physical and mental well-being.

Solution

We did an assessment of David’s fitness including a Bio-age test and postural analysis, to ascertain where he was at, which we then used as a base for an exercise and nutrition program.  A weekly exercise plan was devised and his diet was also monitored via a food diary.  David’s exercise program was designed to his bodies needs with a mix of cardio, metabolic resistance training, and strength training, to help him lose weight, gain aerobic capacity and strength for his sport.

Results

After the first few months David would come to his gym session on Tuesday and say how good it was to be able to run out a game of soccer, he felt great and his team mates were amazed at how much his stamina had improved. Moreover he lost 3-4 centimetres off his waist, was showing  muscle definition in his legs, chest and arms and lost 5 kilograms in weight. Read David’s testimonial

Graham Crozier

Situation

Graham a small business owner in his 40‘s was standing up pretty well to the rigors of running a business or at least he thought he was until he went for his annual medical check-up.  The early mornings, full days including lots of late nights entertaining clients, his resulting eating habits had taken their toll on Grahams expanding waistline.

Problem

Graham had put on close to 20 kilograms over the past 10 years and his doctor told him that his cholesterol particularly his LDL, and blood sugar were at a dangerous levels and that he was at risk of health complications such as heart disease and diabetes if he didn’t take action.  Graham needed to lose weight sooner rather than later.

Solution

As we do with all our clients we established Grahams initial situation with a fitness, bio-age and postural assessment to give us a starting point to design an exercise program and give him nutritional guidance.  For Graham we started him off on a weekly plan that included 2 cardio and 3 weight training sessions.  The weight training sessions were designed to keep Grahams heart rate up as high as possible over the hours session and in the first months we used a mini circuit concept to make sure that he was burning lots of calories.  After the first three months we mixed his cardio strength sessions with pure strength session to give him tone and shape.

Results

Graham went back to his local GP for a medical check after 3 months of training his cholesterol and blood sugar levels had dropped from high to below normal, he and his Doctor were elated.  Moreover Graham has lost 10 kilograms in weight and almost 9 centimetres of his waist, needless to say his feeling pretty happy with himself. Chris Oxley

Situation

Chris an IT advertising media executive in his early 30’s works for a well known  digital media sales company, like David above his passion is for soccer.  Chris came to us wanting to lose some of his flab and to achieve muscle growth and definition.

Problem

Chris liked his sport and the ensuing social event/s on the weekend and even though he thought he was training hard for his football his girth measurement kept on expanding, the rest of his body was also a bit flabby.  He like a lot of us didn’t realise that as you age your metabolism slows, not withstanding the fact that you are still engaged in sport you need to address you bodies needs with the appropriate exercise and nutrition plan.

Solution

As for all our clients we went through the process of a fitness, bio-age and postural assessment with Chris to make sure that we understood his body and what was required for him to achieve his goals.  Chris started off on a weekly plan that consisted of 2 cardio and 3 metabolic resistance training sessions, his football training included in the cardio.  The metabolic resistance training sessions were designed to be of high intensity with high volume in number exercises, sets, and repetitions with short rest period between sets.  As Chris is mostly desk bound during the day, research shows that metabolic resistance training is effective as the body burns calories over the coarse of the day as it recovers from the workout.

Results

After 3 months Chris felt energetic, had lost his gut, had gained strength, muscle tone and was fitter and more effective on the football field.  Furthermore he had actually lost 4 centimetres of his waist, 5 kilograms in weight, and felt fantastic.  Read Chris’s testimonial

Simon Raper

Situation

Simon is a business owner, young family man, triathlon athlete and a kayaking/ocean racer, which makes him in his words time poor.

Problem

As mentioned Simon has an extremely busy lifestyle balancing his time between his young family, his business and his sporting passions.  He was fit but overweight this may sound like a contradiction, to some extent yes but it all came down to someone listening to his needs and putting together a program to suit.

Solution

Once again we used our successful processes to do an assessment of Simon’s fitness including a Bio-age test, and postural analysis to give us a base to start from.  A weekly exercise plan was devised and his diet was also monitored via a food diary.  Simon’s exercise program was designed to his sports and more importantly his bodies needs with a mix of cardio strength training, metabolic resistance training, and strength training, to help him lose weight and gain aerobic capacity and strength for his sport.

Results

Simon has felt stronger and fitter which has yielded him results in his sports.  He has particularly noticed his cycling on hill climbs has improved, as a result of all the leg exercises deep squats, dead lifts lunges to be precise.  Moreover he has lost 3-4 centimetres off his waist, 5 kilograms in weight, and best of all he has transformed himself from a self stated fat-man to a stronger and fitter shape without an increase in exercise time, just more efficient use of it.
